Saga Education Welcomes Harvard University's Dr. Christina Grant to Nonprofit's National Governing Board

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Sept. 18, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Saga Education, the nation's nonprofit leader in helping states and districts get high-impact tutoring right, today announced the appointment of Dr. Christina Grant, executive director of the Center for Education Policy Research at Harvard University, to its National Governing Board.
Dr. Grant brings more than two decades of experience as an educator, administrator, and executive leader in some of the nation's largest school systems. Her career began in Harlem, where she was a public school teacher. Before her role at Harvard, Dr. Grant served as the District of Columbia's State Superintendent of Education, where she oversaw grants, standards, assessments, and accountability for elementary and secondary schools. During her tenure, she spearheaded a $100 million investment in post-pandemic academic recovery programs.
"Dr. Grant knows how states can design policies to meet local needs, and she's seen the impact of high-dosage, high-impact tutoring. She oversaw the growth of a citywide high-impact tutoring initiative in Washington, D.C. that proved both effective and sustainable," said Alan Safran, Saga Education's CEO and co-founder. Dr. Grant has held numerous positions in education, including Deputy Executive Director at the New York City Department of Education and a top official of the School District of Philadelphia. Dr. Grant earned a doctorate in education with a focus on organizational leadership from the University of Pennsylvania, along with master's degrees from Teachers College, Columbia University, and Fordham University, and a bachelor's degree from Hofstra University.
